In the heart of the Aberdeenshire countryside and on the A947 main road between Aberdeen and Banff, which is part of one of the attractive alternative routes between Aberdeen and Inverness.

A traditional small market town, Turriff has long been an important commercial and shopping centre for the surrounding rich farmland. Today, shopping is superb – bringing locals out from Aberdeen and other towns to privately-owned boutiques and Celebrations, a real department store & restaurant with a friendly small-town feel. Also a wide range of cafés, restaurants, hotels and pubs for coffees and lunches right in the town centre.

Also a range of hotels and restaurants both in the town centre and in the countryside for pre-booked group lunches etc. The Turriff Show is Scotland’s largest 2-day agricultural show, this year on 5/6th August 2007..

Practical info: Main road by-passes shopping centre, but also good coach access to centre (Main St, High St, Market St). Drop off in High Street by Somerfield supermarket, close to public toilets (charge; 20p coin needed). RADAR key* required for disabled toilets. Street parking for coach usually possible just off town centre. Allow 1½ hrs for shopping/coffee; longer if lunch stop included. Only a few shops close at lunchtimes or have a half day (Wednesday).
